Nice. Not too exciting. Well balanced and smooth. Would be a good base for a blend. Maybe I should try 60% of this, with 20% of the Elephant, and 20% of the Kona for a nice low caf.
Not much to say here - I burnt it. I'll have to have another go.
I've no idea why this is called "The Toads" as it doesn't taste anything like a toad. Or any other amphibian. Tom describes this as low acid and heavy body, hazelnut note with milk chocolate.
Not sure that is quite what I tasted, but its close. The body was very very smooth, and thicker than normal. There was definitely a nutty flavor. There was also a very muted fruity note in the aftertaste. If I'd been drinking with something else I may not have noticed this.
I originally thought I'd blend this with something to add a sharper flavor to it, but I've changed my mind. This is a damned good cup as it is.
The roast was taken about 10 seconds into the second crack (as measured from the first snap I heard after the first crack). Next time I might try lightening up the roast a bit just to see what happens.
I only bought a pound of this and now I'm kicking myself.
Note to self: order more of this next time.
I picked some of this up from the last order from Sweet Marias. Its a caffeinated coffee, which I generally don't do, but I was curious about the Kona.
Overall, its decent. It roasted evenly, and looked very good in the jar after it cooled. The taste wasn't bad, but not one of my favorites. It was relatively smooth, but just didn't seem to be exciting in any direction at all. It also had a rather thin flavor - not very strong at all.
Heather, however, reported a certain herbal quality. Specifically she said it reminded her of a pot brownie.
For my money, not worth the 4x extra I paid for this - glad I only bought one pound.
